I think that the worst experience for an adoptive child is to adept that he/she is adopted.
This fact would give every person in the world the feeling of having lost something very expensive. In my opinion the author had the feeling to be different from all her friends because she got to know that her biological parents were from another country and had another culture.
It must be a sad case to get to know that your parents gave you to an orphanage because of different reasons but this shows also the bad situation of your parents in that time.
Of Course luxury and a pleasant life are very important, even if, for every person it has a different value to grow up in your own family and your own culture.

I think that this statement concerns the idea of the rich western people who adopt African children and think that this is the best what could happen to these children.
Of course adoption can be a wonderful thing but it is wrong to think that this is the best what could happen to an African child. I think that the best thing for these African children is to grow up with their own family in a country without poverty or war. To enable them such a world these rich western people could try to support these countries financially and try to change the situation in this country.
