Hallo!
Ich habe eine kurze Passage aus dem Stück Henry V von Shakespeare.
Ich soll diese Passege:
and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
God's will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires:
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
ins moderne Englisch umschreiben. Hab es auch versucht:
The few men, which survived, have a big share of honour. If god wants, I will pray for your wish and for no one else. By Jove, neither I do not desire gold nor I attend to these people, who feed upon my cost. As well I do not die for these men, who carry my clothing. Such outward things are not important for me. But if it is a sin to die for honour, then I am the most offending soul alive.
Hab ich es richtig gemacht und ist es so modern genug???
Könnte bitte jemand drüber gucken?

Dieses Stelle ist aus der 3. Szene des 4. Aufzugs, den deutschen Text findest du hier, der Auszug geht los bei
und wenn wir leben,
Je kleinre Zahl, je größres Ehrenteil.
"the ... the" bedeutet im Deutschen "je ... desto", also

"I pray thee" = Ich bitte dich"
As God will! I ask you to not wish for one man more (than we have)

Nor do I care who lives (eats) at my cost

Wie kommst du hier auf's Sterben? "to yearn" = nach etwas verlangen. Da es verneint ist:
I do not desire that these men wear my uniform
> Such outward things are
> not important for me.
> But if it is a sin to die for honour,
Du hast's mit dem Sterben 
to covet = begehren
But if it is a sin to crave honour
> then I am the most offending soul alive.
Das würde ich noch ein bischen moderner formulieren. Mit "soul" meint der König seine eigene Person.

Nein, bei dem "As well I do not die for

bezog ich mich nicht aufs sterben xD. Irgednwo im Wörterbuch stand für ersehnen die. Also hab ich mir nichts dabei gedacht. Oder ich hab irgednwo verlesen:S.
